»Diana Marincu will talk about her recent curatorial projects and her practice as the artistic director of the Art Encounters Foundation in Timișoara, Romania.

Diana Marincu is a curator based in Romania, currently the Artistic Director of Art Encounters Foundation in Timișoara. She holds a PhD from The National University of Arts in Bucharest, Art History and Theory Department, following a research on the large-scale art exhibitions from 1989 onwards built around geographical criteria and identity discourses. She has been part of the Paintbrush Factory’s board of directors in Cluj (2014-2017) and she managed the exhibition programme of Plan B Foundation from 2012 to 2017, as well as the educational programme “Learning & Unlearning”. Her recent exhibitions include: Persona, MUCEM, Marseille (2019); Manufacturing Nature / Naturalizing the Synthetic, Frac des Pays de la Loire (2018); Sounds Make Worlds, solo show of Marianne Mispelaere, Art Encounters Foundation, Timișoara; Double Heads Matches (with Zsuzsanna Szegedy-Maszák), New Budapest Gallery (2018); Life A User’s Manual (with Ami Barak), Art Encounters Biennial Timișoara (2017); The White Dot and The Black Cube (with Anca Verona Mihuleț), The National Museum of Contemporary Art – MNAC Bucharest (2015-2017). Her curatorial work is inspired by artists working with research topics such as the narrative strategies of image-construction, the posthuman shift and the multilayered human-nature contact, post-national subjectivities and power relations in various contexts, translated also in the institutional framework of the art system today.«
